About Luiza as a Therapist

Luiza is passionate about helping others feel understood and heard. She is eager to join others on a journey to better relationships, emotional health, and having a fulfilled life. She has a compassionate demeanor that promotes positive and healthy changes and honors the time and rewarding process it can take it get to where others want to be. She empowers others to know and understand themselves, claim ownership of their struggle, and develop positive lasting changes in their lives.

Luiza believes humans are wired for relationships. In the context of relationships, there is hurt and pain, as well as healing and a deep joy. An “attachment-focused” therapeutic worldview looks at how past and current relationships affect mental health, emotional struggles, and physical well-being. Luiza is strengths-based and client focused, meaning she honors people as being the experts in their own lives, and her coming along side them to facilitate change.

She loves working with shy children, disconnected couples, women with marital concerns, singles who struggle with dating and social anxiety, and is an expert in Eastern European acculturation concerns and immigration issues, individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, and past trauma, and Christian-identified others with religious concerns.

Training and Background

Prior to psychotherapy and during her schooling, she worked in a variety of customer service jobs, traveled the world, and created art. Interacting with people in stressful environments and experiencing different cultures gave her an in-depth look at daily struggles and challenges of human beings which often left her wondering ‘why do people do what they do?’ Naturally being a curious person, this question has led her in her journey of becoming a mental health practitioner. It began with receiving her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Washington State University in 2008 and later a Master of Art in Marriage, Couple, and Family Counseling from George Fox University in 2015.

Since 2014, she has consistently gained experience by working with individuals, couples, and families in both community mental health and private practice settings. For her first two years in the field she primarily worked with kids/teens and their families, by creating connection between children and their parent through filial therapy, child-centered play therapy and parent child interaction therapy (PCIT). She has experience facilitating narrative therapy, and solution focused therapy within the family structure.
