About Emma  as a Counselor

Emma is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate in Washington and a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate in Oregon. She is able to provide in person counseling in Camas, WA or online counseling to both Washington and Oregon residents.

Emma honors the uniqueness of each person and strives to bring a holistic, kind and hopeful presence during the process of therapy. She has a gentle and welcoming presence that helps create a safe environment for her clients to open up at their pace. Emma believes that it is a privilege to walk alongside people and highly values the therapeutic relationship in her work with clients.

She is passionate about helping people explore and heal from their pasts while also discovering purpose, meaning and empowerment in their lives. Emma has experience in working with a wide range of people including children, teens, families, and individuals working on issues related to PTSD, complex trauma, grief and loss, parenting, anxiety, depression, identity issues and more.

In therapy sessions, Emma’s approach is eclectic and individualized based on her clients experiences, strengths and needs. She utilizes an integrative approach combining an Object Relations theoretical orientation with Cognitive Behavioral methods such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) when working with adults and teens and Cognitive Behavioral Play Therapy (CBPT) when working with children. It is common when working with children for Emma to also utilize a mix of child-only, child-parent, and parent-only sessions with an emphasis on attachment strengthening practices. Depending on the needs of the client, Emma may also incorporate psychoeducation surrounding physiological responses, art modalities, and mindfulness practices in her sessions with clients.

Training and Background

Emma received her Master’s of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Western Seminary with an additional Child and Youth Specialization in 2024. She also holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Oregon in Environmental Studies with a minor in Psychology. Emma also holds certifications in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Psychological First Aid and Cognitive Processing Therapy. Emma has also taken Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) graduate classes and is familiar with tools utilized within that treatment modality.

Additionally, she has several years of prior work experience supporting children and families in a residential psychiatric facility and working with homeless teenage girls. She also has experience counseling individuals in a community mental health setting and a private group practice setting on a variety of issues including PTSD, complex trauma, grief and loss, faith issues, parenting issues, anxiety, depression, and identity issues. Emma also has experience leading psychoeducational and group processing therapy groups.
