Monica Conway, LMHCA
Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate (WA)
About Monica as a Counselor
Monica is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate. She provides in person and online counseling in Camas, WA for Washington residents.
Monica is a child and family counselor who blends creative expressive arts, child‐centered play therapy, and neurodiversity‐affirming care to support children ages 3+, teens, and caregivers. Her style is warm, playful, and grounded in deep respect for each client’s inner world. She brings a steady, attuned presence to the therapy room – balancing gentle curiosity with developmentally appropriate structure. Monica is LGBTQIA2+‐affirming and committed to creating a therapeutic space where all identities and family constellations are welcomed and honored.
Monica believes that children communicate most honestly through play, movement, and imagination. She partners closely with caregivers, helping them understand their child’s emotional landscape while building practical, compassionate strategies for home and school.
Training and Background
Monica earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Arts from the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point, graduating magna cum laude. She later completed her Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at George Fox University, where she specialized in child and adolescent counseling, expressive arts interventions, and play‐based therapeutic approaches.
Her clinical training includes Child‐Centered Play Therapy (CCPT), expressive arts modalities (drawing, clay, story‐making, sandtray), trauma‐informed care, and collaborative caregiver work. She is actively pursuing training toward the Registered Play Therapist (RPT) credential under qualified supervision
